Wind in the Willows Theatre

As part of The Petworth Festival, Coultershaw will be playing host to a promenade style performance of The Wind in the Willows on the 23rd and 24th July. A professional theatrical company will present an adventure into The Wild Wood. A beautiful blend of theatre, story telling and audience interaction-something for the entire family. Performances take place throughout the day (11am to 3pm) Tickets are now on sale from the Petworth Festival website. Prices: adults £10, 18 and under £6 OR Family ticket £25 (up to 4 people, maximum 2 adults)

Archaeology in the Park guided walk

From medieval farmsteads and a Tudor hunting lodge, to World War II remnants, learn about some of the archaeological findings we've uncovered on this two hour guided walk. Tickets are free, but booking is recommended to guarantee a place on the walk.

Petworth Late: The House of Art

Experience a magical evening atmosphere of art and culture at Petworth House during these late openings from 6:30pm. Explore the rooms with their vast art collection, including works by J.M.W Turner and Thomas Gainsborough, along with carvings by Grinling Gibbons. Enjoy a drink on arrival, the music of a string duo, highlight talks and watch the sunset over Petworth Park. Pay-for bar also available.

Beginners Photography course in Petworth Park

Spend a day in Petworth Park on this photography workshop led by a friendly and experienced tutor from Aspire Sussex. You will learn how to apply different compositional rules to different subjects for best effect as well as some camera techniques that will make the most of any subject. It is a fantastic opportunity to make flower, landscape, and if lucky even some wildlife images. A great opportunity to share a hobby and get creative all with expert tuition. This is suitable for beginner’s wanting to develop their photographic journey. Bridge and Dslr cameras welcome.

Book your tickets to experience outdoor cinema at Petworth. The garden opens at 6:30pm and films will begin showing at 8:30pm on a 30-foot screen in Petworth’s Pleasure Garden. Romeo + Juliet is based on William Shakespeare’s classic play. This blockbuster adaptation of two star-crossed lovers by Baz Luhrmann stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. Rated 12A. An impressive range of classic and vintage cars will be on show at Coultershaw. The Wind in the Willows trail will be open along with our normal working and hands-on exhibits. Our volunteers will guide you through the workings and history of the site. Bring a picnic and enjoy the picturesque riverside scenery!

Join us for a fun packed family day filled with Wind in the Willows activities in our beautiful riverside heritage site. Set off on a riverside adventure on our Wind in the Willows trail and recieve a goody bag reward. Take part Wind in the Willows crafts where you can design a badge, float a boat and much more besides. Why not bring a picnic and make a day of it messing about by the river?

History of the Park guided walk

Mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, this two hour guided walk explores the historic areas of the Deer Park, how it was used and how it changed. Covering the various areas of the Park and what they were used for throughout history, the walk explores Coney Park and Little Park all the way to Outwood and the lost gardens and commons as well as the emergence of the Brownian Deer Park. Tickets are free, but booking is recommended to guarantee a place.

Heritage Weekend at Burton Mill

Burton Mill Burton Mill, Burton Park Road, Petworth, West Sussex, United Kingdom

Visitors to Burton Mill will see heritage milling in action! We will be milling stoneground wholemeal and white bread flour throughout the day. Our 1880s Roller Mill will be crushing oats and the restored Hydraulic Ram will be pumping water. There will be a small collection of working stationary pumping engines on display. We have a small exhibition on the history of Burton Mill and the restoration of the milling machinery. Admission is free and all are welcome! Open on both Saturday and Sunday 11am to 4pm. A free (donations welcome) vintage bus will be calling at Burton Mill throughout the weekend. The bus tours begin at the Leconfield Hall.
