Petworth Heritage Weekend – St Mary’s Church

Come and visit the beautiful St Mary's Petworth, a church with a fascinating history in the heart of our wonderful town. The church has origins from the medieval period but restorations have hidden much of the original structure. Open Saturday 10am - 5pm & Sunday 1pm - 5pm

Petworth Cottage Museum

The museum is a Leconfield Estate worker's cottage restored and furnished as it might have been in about 1910, when Mrs Cummings lived in 346. Open Saturday & Sunday 11am - 5pm

Coultershaw Heritage Site Station Road, Coultershaw, West Sussex, United Kingdom

Visit our picturesque heritage site to watch a working waterwheel power an 18th century beam pump to produce an impressive fountain. Go on a riverside adventure by taking part in our Wind in the Willows trail and recieve a goody bag. See if you can impress Mr Toad by designing a boat to send down our water chute! Arrive at our site in style on the Vintage South Down bus which will be travelling between all participating local heritage places. This weekend has something for all ages and interests and not to be missed! A vintage bus will travel between Petworth, Coultershaw and Burton Mill.

Visitors to Burton Mill will see heritage milling in action! We will be milling stoneground wholemeal and white bread flour throughout the day. There will be other working historic machinery and engines on display. We have a small exhibition on the history of Burton Mill and the restoration of the milling machinery. Admission is free and all are welcome! A vintage bus will travel between Petworth, Coultershaw and Burton Mill.

Petworth Heritage Weekend – Town Walks

Petworth House and Park Petworth House, Petworth, West Sussex, United Kingdom

Join a free walking tour of the town to discover more about the local heritage. Tours will be delivered at 11:15, 12:15, 13:15, 14:15 and 15:15. Collect your ticket from the Church Lodge visitor entrance to Petworth House and Park. Spaces will be limited, (free) tickets allocated on the day on a first come, first served basis. To find the Church Lodge entrance, start in Petworth town centre and then walk up the shallow hill along Lombard Street away from the Co-op and Leconfield Hall towards St Mary's Church. At the end of Lombard Street, facing the church the pedestrian entrance to Petworth House and Garden is across Church Street and on your left.

Petworth Heritage Weekend at Petworth House and Park

Join us over the Heritage Open Days weekend to explore the extraordinary art collection in the striking state rooms of the Baroque inspired House. Take a stroll in the expansive Capability Brown landscaped Park, where you might spot some of the fallow deer herd. Relax in the Pleasure Garden, the perfect place for a picnic. Discover more about Petworth's history and collection in a guided tour of the house. Tickets allocated on a first come, first serve basis. There will also be 10 minute highlight talks throughout the day. See the board by the house entrance for talk and tour times and topics on the day.
